Dr Ruston Sanchez
Dr. Ruston Sanchez is a board-certified Baton Rouge, LA based plastic surgeon who specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. A Baton Rouge native, Dr. Sanchez graduated summa cum laude from Louisiana State University as a University Medalist with a degree in Biological Sciences. He received his medical doctorate from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA where he was awarded the Drs. C.H. and Yamuna Narayanan Scholarship in Human Embryology.
Dr. Sanchez went on to complete a highly competitive six-year integrated plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI. There he received specialized and comprehensive training in breast reconstruction, pediatric and craniomaxillofacial reconstruction, hand/upper extremity reconstruction, microsurgery, gender affirming surgery, and aesthetic surgery. As a resident, he received the Layton F. Rikkers Education Award recognizing outstanding contributions to medical student education.
During medical school and residency, Dr. Sanchez also worked as a professional medical illustrator and has published hundreds of original illustrations in medical books, journals, websites, and for research grants. His artwork has been featured on the covers of several scientific journals, including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal, the highest impact peer-reviewed plastic surgery journal in the world. In additional to his renowned medical illustrations, Dr. Sanchez has authored numerous scientific papers as well book chapters, and has been an invited presenter at regional, national, and international plastic surgery meetings, presenting on topics ranging from breast reconstruction to rhinoplasty.
