Am I a Candidate for This Procedure?
As one gets older, skin elasticity reduces and this is critical on the upper face. A brow lift is a plastic surgery procedure that restores a smoother forehead contour to give a more youthful facial appearance. Ideal candidates for this treatment are men or women who are in good health, do not smoke, and are looking to address any of the following aesthetic concerns:
- Lift a sagging brow
- Reduce wrinkles on the forehead
- Get rid of frown lines
- Address a drooping brow
- Get rid of uneven lines between the eyebrows
During your initial brow lift consultation, the surgeon will listen to your concerns, ask questions, and let you know whether this treatment is for you. Dr. Ruston Sanchez is a committed professional who works diligently to create an individualized treatment plan to meet the needs and expectations of each patient. Dr. Ruston Sanchez may ask you to stop smoking, avoid some medications, and arrange for recovery before undergoing this procedure.
Surgical Technique
A brow lift is an outpatient procedure that is performed under general anesthesia and, in some cases, local anesthesia with sedation. The surgeon will create an incision in a strategic position depending on the degree of skin sag, the patient’s skin condition, and location of the hairline. Once this is done, the skin is tightened to achieve the desired smoothness and the incisions are closed using absorbable sutures, special clips, or skin adhesives. Dr. Ruston Sanchez employs his vast experience and modern surgical techniques to achieve the best possible outcome while minimizing the risk of scarring and other side effects.

Types of Brow Lift
Endoscopic brow lift
The surgeon will place several incisions hidden within the hairline. An endoscope is used to view the underlying muscles and tissues. Forehead tissue is then lifted using fiber optic equipment inserted in one of the incisions. Finally, incisions are closed with small stitches. This is a less extensive brow lift surgery with minimal bruising and faster healing time compared to a coronal brow lift.
Coronal brow lift
The surgeon makes an incision at the top of the head from ear to ear, or at the hairline. The forehead skin is then lifted, excess tissue and fat removed and the muscles are realigned if necessary to give the desired outcome. The overlapping scalp is trimmed away and the remaining tissue is sewn back together. This technique is not recommended for patients with a high hairline, thin hair, or those likely to lose hair.
Temporal brow lift
This is a minimally invasive procedure where the surgeon makes an incision between your forehead and the beginning of your hairline. A small amount of skin and tissue is removed from the top of your forehead rather than the scalp making sure that the hairline is not pulled back. This treatment produces excellent results with minimal downtime.
After Brow Lift Surgery
Following the procedure, Dr. Ruston Sanchez will closely monitor his patients before releasing them to go home. Many patients can expect to experience a degree of swelling and bruising on the upper portion of the face, around the eyebrows, and near the eyes. This is a normal part of the healing process and dissipates within days. If the discomfort is too much, the surgeon will prescribe appropriate pain medication. It is also not uncommon for some patients to feel like their face is not symmetrical. Dr. Ruston Sanchez recommends that patients sleep on their back with their head elevated for 4-7 days after surgery. A post-operative appointment will be scheduled so that Dr. Ruston Sanchez can assess your recovery progress. The typical recovery period for brow lift patients is 2-3 weeks, after which time most patients can resume routine daily tasks. However, the surgeon will ask that you desist from strenuous activities or exercise until after you get the go-ahead from him. The outcome of this treatment is evident immediately after recovery. Patients will discover a refreshed face that is soft, alert, and more youthful-looking.
