NECK LIFT IN BATON ROUGE, LA
Neck Lift
Neck lift surgery (also referred to as lower rhytidectomy) is a cosmetic surgery procedure that eliminates loose skin, vertical bands, and excess fat from the neck region and jawline in order to create a rejuvenated, youthful appearance. Aging is an inevitable natural process that affects all of us, often leading to creasing and wrinkling of skin in the upper parts of the body especially on the face and neck. Surgical technique
Neck lift is an outpatient cosmetic treatment that is performed under general anesthesia. The surgeon will create small inconspicuous incisions either below the chin, in front of the earlobes, or behind the ears towards the back of the neck. Sagging skin is then removed (cervicoplasty) and loose muscles tightened (platysmaplasty). Excess fat is removed through liposuction. Once the desired smoothness is achieved, the incisions are closed using dissolvable sutures and the treatment area bandaged. Dr. Ruston employs his vast experience and modern surgical techniques to achieve the best possible outcome while minimizing the risk of scarring and other side effects.

Types of Neck Lift Surgery in Baton Rouge, LA
Traditional full neck lift
The surgeon will make an incision under the chin, within natural creases of the neck and behind the ears. The platysma muscle is then tightened, excess fat removed, excess skin trimmed away, and tissues repositioned. Once the desired outcome of the patient is achieved the surgeon closes the incisions using dissolvable sutures and bandages it.
Limited incision neck lifts
The surgeon makes shorter incisions around the ear, the muscle is tightened and skin redraped to achieve the desired smoothness. This procedure produces limited results.
Liposuction neck lift
The surgeon makes small incisions under the chin and uses a thin hollow tube (cannula) to suction the excess displaced fat. This procedure is recommended for patients with good skin quality.
After neck lift surgery
The neck lift cosmetic treatment typically takes 3 hours to complete after which Dr. Ruston will closely monitor the patient before releasing them to go home. The neck area is bandaged and patients can expect some swelling and bruising (which dissipates after a few days), as well as skin tightness that may take several months to improve. You will be asked to keep the head elevated for 48 hours after surgery to minimize the swelling. In case of severe discomfort, prescription medication will be given. A postoperative appointment will be scheduled so that Dr. Ruston can assess your recovery progress. Most neck lift patients are able to go back to their normal schedules within 4weeks. Dr. Ruston will ask that you desist from any strenuous activities and exercise until you get a green light from him.
